ARTISOFT ANNOUNCES TWO NEW EXTERNAL HUBS FOR 10BASE-T NETWORKS Compatible With Multiple Networking Environments (TUCSON, AZ -- May 17, 1993) -- Artisoft, Inc. announced today two new concentrators for use in any 10BASE-T network installation. The two models include the T-Runner 800/TC, an eight- port concentrator priced at $449, and the T-Runner 1200/TC, a twelve- port concentrator priced at $749. These external, IEEE-compliant concentrators (which are scheduled to begin shipping later this summer) are compatible with a variety of networking environments -- from Artisoft's LANtastic(R) Local Area Network to third-party networking environments such as Novell's NetWare(R). "We are providing these hubs to meet the growing demand for 10BASE-T products from our reseller channel," said Artisoft's Chairman and CEO, Jack Schoof. "The T-Runner hubs complement our complete line of networking products and will help Artisoft to provide a total hardware and software solution to both resellers and endusers." The T-Runner 800/TC and 1200/TC models contain a BNC connector that allows concentrators to be linked to one another via thin coax cable. In addition, the BNC connector allows for the mixing of cable types. For example, the T-Runner concentrators enable users on a 10BASE-T segment to connect and communicate with users on a coax segment. The T-Runner 800/TC and 1200/TC concentrators also include an auto partitioning feature that automatically disables ports that do not have link integrity. These T-Runner concentrators are in addition to Artisoft's Peer-Hub(R) internal concentrator. The Peer-Hub concentrator resides in a host PC, XT, AT or EISA computer (ISA mode only) and has five external 10BASE-T ports.
