(TUCSON, AZ August 12, 1996) Artisoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASFT) announced today that it plans to provide networking, PC communications and computer telephony solutions for the Windows NT 4.0 operating system. In recognition of the growing acceptance of NT workstations and servers in small and growing businesses, branch offices and workgroups, Artisoft plans to release software from each of its product groups which is specifically designed to take advantage of the 32-bit architecture of Windows NT 4.0. Artisoft expects to begin releasing certain software solutions running on the Windows NT 4.0 platform by the end of 1996.
Artisoft has traditionally combined anticipating the needs of small business, and providing an affordable, easy growth path for integrating new technologies into LANtastic® local area networks. Our planned support for Windows NT is a natural extension of our commitment to multiplatform connectivity, providing consistent networking for PCs running any Microsoft operating system, said Olivier Zitoun, Artisoft senior vice president and general manager of the networking product group.
The planned Windows NT version of the award-winning LANtastic networking software will be primarily targeted to any LANtastic network with one or more NT workstations, and to new network customers with any mix of NT, Windows® 95, Windows® , OS/2® and DOS platforms.
In PC communications, Artisoft plans to release an enhanced version of it's award-winning INSYNC® CoSession Remote remote control software which will support Windows NT 4.0. As Windows NT 4.0 gains acceptance, it becomes increasingly important to provide users with access to their desktop resources via this platform. Artisoft's planned version of CoSession Remote will provide users with greater flexibility in how they transfer files and access information remotely, said David Saphier, senior vice president and general manager of the PC communications product group.
Visual Voice®, Artisoft's award-winning telephony software toolkit, already supports Windows NT 3.51. Last March Artisoft announced the release of Visual Voice Pro v 3.0 for Windows NT and Windows 95. Since Windows NT is an outstanding platform for voice processing, future versions of Visual Voice products will be designed to continue support of Windows NT, commented Michael Cassidy, senior vice president and general manager of the computer telephony product group. A 32-bit ActiveX control version of the popular Visual Voice telephony software toolkit, Visual Voice Pro leverages the robust pre-emptive multi-tasking of Windows NT to support more than 72 simultaneous phone line connections per PC.
